In this very special class, we will work with our more high-arousal dogs. If your dog needs help with calming, becoming comfortable with distractions around them and communicating with you when they need help, this class is for you! Using games, consent and choice, we will help our dogs build confidence and resiliency with the goal of scent becoming something that can help them settle down in arousing environments. Class size is limited to 4 dogs. High-Arousal dog class is a prerequisite.

Calm Scent for High Arousal Dogs class is $225 for 8 weeks.

Put what you learn from your classes with us into action on our City and Trail Walks! We will navigate through the outdoor environment in the city or a trail using some Control Unleashed pattern games and other techniques. City and Trail Walks are held in warmer weather. Each walk will be advertised and typically run 1.5- 2 hours long.

In Family Dog Experience, you will learn how to build communication with your dog, general dog manners, loose leash walking, and different games you can play with your dog to build a great relationship together. Using games we will learn how to successfully recall our dogs, what normal dog behaviors are, how to meet our dogs needs, safe ways of trading items, how to introduce choice into your dogs life, how to read your dogs body language and much more!

Family Dog Experience class is $200 for 8 weeks.

Your dog will continue to build confidence using agility equipment. Progress will go as slowly as needed, per dog. The dog’s safety and comfort is our top priority. The human will learn about agility handling while the dogs continue to build agency, overcome neophobia, take a little more direction from their human, and grow a partnership with each other. The humans will use the skills learned in Fearful Dogs class, as those skills will always apply in life for these dogs.

This is an ongoing class. Prerequisite: Fearful Dog or Reactive Dog (at CCF) with that instructor's permission to advance. Evaluation is required.

Fearful Dog Agility class is $225 for 8 weeks.

Leslie McDevitt wrote the Control Unleashed series and created the use of pattern games in dog training. In this class, you and your dog will learn many of her pattern games, how to work with each other in different environments, creating connection, communication, and focus. The use of patterns you learn will give your dog a safety net to help her feel secure in her surroundings. 

No prerequisites required for the intro class. Please note: Fearful or reactive dogs do require an evaluation (to help determine the best class for each dog).

Control Unleashed class is $180 for 6 weeks.

At Canine Complex and Friends we now offer an exciting three level course for puppies. It is designed to meet the needs of puppies as they grow from 8 weeks old to adolescence: individuality, exploration, careful exposure to novel stimuli, social needs, play, skills to develop resiliency and confidence, choice games, crate training, cooperative care, a mock vet class, introduction to riding in the car, going new places, meeting new dogs and people, recall for safety and more! Natural puppy’s three levels include: 8-16 weeks, 4-6 months and adolescence.

The curriculum was created for human and puppy to become an amazing team with a relationship built on trust, security, fairness, understanding (body language and canine communication are taught in classes), and choice. In a world that’s a human’s world, dogs often don’t have much agency and as a result develop anxiety and fear if their learning, environment, genetics, and components of self such as: health, individuality, reproduction, nutrition and other welfare elements aren’t balanced (LEGS, Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation). Many so called behavior problems are actually a normal response to the environment not meeting the needs of the breeds or individual in general.

Natural Puppy class is $200 for 8 weeks at each level.

There is no set curriculum for this class. You will learn communicative skills, handling techniques, and help create focus and connection with your dog. We will use fun pattern games (from Control Unleashed) and innovative and fun activities to help build a better, long-lasting relationship between you and your dog. *This class can be taken for multiple sessions, as learning is a lifelong process.

No prerequisites required, however, evaluation may be required (to help determine the best class for each dog’s needs.

Relationship Building class is $180 for 6 weeks.

Beginning Scent Work for the Modern Dog. In this class you will have the opportunity to learn traditional scentwork with the first scent, Birch. Through a series of fun activities, you and your dog will become a wonderful, communicative team. In addition to birch, you will learn different ways to incorporate scent into activities at home, using materials you already have on hand. Scentwork is an excellent way to work as a team and take advantage of our dogs' powerful instinct of sniffing. Class size limited to 6 dogs.

Scent Fork for Fun Class is $200 for 8 weeks.

Level 2 scent work picks up where Level 1 left off, adding in more fun challenges as well as the second scent, Anise. In this class you and your dog will progress as a team identifying individual scents as well as discriminating between two scents. In addition to that, we will work on the odor recognition test, continue to learn novel ways of using scent work at home and continue to build our dog-human communication skills. Scentwork for Fun/Level 1 is a prerequisite of this class. Class size limited to 6 dogs.

Scent Work Level 2 class is $200 for 8 weeks.

In this very special class, we will work with our more fearful dogs. If your dog needs more time to build confidence, get comfortable in new surroundings and build resiliency, Slow Scent is perfect! Over the course of 8 weeks we will be slowly introducing our dogs to using their nose to find different items and smells. Using consent and choice, we will give our dogs the opportunity to participate at their own pace and in their own way. Class size limited to 4 dogs. Fearful dog class is a prerequisite.

Slow Scent for Fearful Dogs is $225 for 8 weeks.

This class is designed as a bridge for you and your dog after taking our Fearful Dog or Reactive Dog classes and are ready to "move up". The class will be structured similarly to the Relationship Building Class, but will allow each dog to really explore a new type of class while continuing to learn and function in the environment. This class can be a precursor for other classes that we offer, with permission/recommendation to advance when completed, if it is right for your dog.
Prerequisite: Fearful Dog or Reactive Dog at CCF with that instructor's permission to advance. Evaluation may be required.

Transition class is $225 for 8 weeks.
